As an established Thornwillow collector, I wanted to make sure you were aware of our newest project on Kickstarter. I am excited to announce that we are publishing a letterpress printed, hand-bound edition of the Book of GENESIS, and — for the first time in a fine press edition — we are printing the text in four distinct colors, corresponding to the four known authorial sources. This is Genesis as it has never been seen before.
Offered in a variety of versions, all of which are printed letterpress and hand bound, our edition presents the most current scholarship in an edition that is beautifully designed and crafted to last.
In addition to a variety of very special bindings including some one-of-a-kind copies with historic artifacts that mark iconic milestones in the history of the Bible, with this project, we also have a special Early-Bird offer. By way of thanks for early supporters of the project, we are offering a limited number of copies of the half leather edition at a special Early BIrd Tier.
Because there are only a limited number of these "early bird" copies available, I wanted to be sure established collectors like you were aware of the project in time to take advantage of opportunity. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions you may have regarding this newest publication, and thank you, as ever, for your steadfast support of our work.
With highest regards,
Luke

Dear Friend of the Press:
As you were a subscriber to our recent edition of T.S. Eliot's THE WASTE LAND on Kickstarter, I wanted to be sure you knew that we are in the final days of the launch of our newest publication, Agatha Christie's DEATH ON THE NILE. If you are interested in her work, there is still time to reserve a copy at pre-publication prices. It will be the first ever fine press edition of one of Christie's most iconic works and we are honored to have been entrusted by Agatha Christie's family and estate to print and publish this special collector edition.
As with all Thornwillow publications, this edition is printed letterpress, bound by hand, signed, numbered, and will include a list of subscribers. There are several versions from which to choose — ranging from copies bound in letterpress printed paper wrappers to full leather bindings tooled in gold and set with cabochon jewels.
We have also endeavored to create a campaign which is itself worthy of Christie's exciting text; over the course of the launch, a mystery has been unfolding. You do not need to back the project to participate in the contest—the grand prize being a one-of-a-kind full leather copy set with a cabochon opal.
Thornwillow is committed to teaching and perpetuating the related arts and crafts of the written word and to bringing out books that will become heirlooms for readers today and for years to come. We need your support to make this happen. Please consider backing this project and join us in celebrating the written word.
With very best regards from the press,

Announcing Agatha Christie's DEATH ON THE NILE from Thornwillow Press
As a supporter of our edition of The Waste Land, I wanted to let you know that we have launched our newest publication on Kickstarter. I am excited to announce that, with the blessing of Agatha Christie’s family and estate, we are publishing the first ever fine press edition of one of her most iconic works — Death on the Nile.
We have also endeavored to create a campaign which is itself worthy of Christie's exciting text; over the course of the next three weeks, a mystery will be unraveling around the campaign. Follow the project to follow the mystery. You do not need to back the project to participate in the contest—the grand prize being a one-of-a-kind full leather copy set with a cabochon opal. The more participation in the mystery the better... and we will be giving rewards to ALL backers based on participation in the mystery.

ANNOUNCING: Beauty is the Beginning of Terror

Friends,
As you saw in our most recent update, paper-wrappers are all shipped! Today we begin shipping half-cloth. Our shipping team is preparing some photos for later this week, and our bindery will soon have some spectacular images of the half-leathers to share.
This week marks the centennial of the end of the First World War. In remembrance of this international event, we have worked with the cadets and faculty of the U. S. Military Academy at West Point to put together an anthology of writings from The Great War unlike any which has ever existed. The book boasts twelve never-before-seen facsimile reproductions of artifacts from the War, and the introduction is written by General Martin E. Dempsey, who served as the highest U. S. military official, as President Obama's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

Dear friends,
We are very pleased to announce that shipping has begun. All paper-wrapper copies have shipped, and half-cloth copies begin shipping Monday! We'll keep you tuned.
In the meantime, we thought we'd share an interesting comparison. Here's the initial letter of The Waste Land under a microscope. The image on the left is of a high quality digital print, while the image on the right is of our letterpress edition.
We all love letterpress printing because you can feel the impression of the type on the page. But the difference between digital and letterpress doesn't end there!
Digital distorts type with a lot more "feathering" than letterpress. Compare the "P" in both of the above images — the letterpress is significantly crisper.
With letterpress, we mix the inks so that we create exactly the color we want. A digital printer attempts to approximate colors by throwing what it has together and hoping you won't notice! In the above image, the deep "burnt orange" is really just red with some black specks. From a long, long distance you won't notice the difference, but up close it's obvious!
Expect more news next week. In the meantime, here are some photos from our shipping team:
